We study novel hospital and community-based health interventions aimed at improving the health outcomes and healthcare experiences of people who use drugs. The Second Heart Program is a peer-supported multidisciplinary endocarditis team designed to meet the needs of people who use drugs with injection drug use-associated infective endocarditis. The Safer Supply project assesses the feasibility and acceptability of a medical safer supply program using prescription opioids for people with treatment-refractory opioid use disorder. Through our research, we engage interdisciplinary health care providers, researchers and community members in the design, data collection and governance of this work.
