Secure. Connected. Feature-Rich. Cost-Effective.
OSCAR was created by Dr. David Chan and McMaster University’s Department of Family Medicine. It has evolved with McMaster’s leadership and vital contributions from its dedicated open-source community to be one of the top EMRs in Canada.
Our shared vision is to enable continuous improvement in health outcomes and services, which includes making the experience and results the best they can be for the providers and recipients of care. We do this through leading edge research, development and knowledge sharing among a vibrant community of engaged clinicians in collaboration with skilled developers and experts in technology systems and security. This network of clinicians includes McMaster, Queens, McGill, the University of British Columbia and thousands of physicians across diverse practice settings.
Offering OSCAR as a progressive, cost-effective EMR is key to realizing our vision. OSCAR is the clinician’s integrated hub within an ever-expanding and dynamic digital health ecosystem of services and apps.

OSCAR is the clinician’s integrated hub within a rapidly expanding digital health ecosystem. Together with OSCAR, integrated apps and services are transforming how care is offered and received, making the care experience more personalized, informed and effective.
To achieve these outcomes, it is essential that all apps and services integrate seamlessly with OSCAR software in a manner that upholds robust security and privacy standards. We are pleased that Well Health Technologies has created apps.health to coordinate, confirm and profile authorized integrations that offer value to OSCAR users. Each app profile lists the version(s) of OSCAR for which the integration has been confirmed as meeting minimum standard requirements (e.g., uses APIs; due diligence completed for privacy and security of integration; no server-side deployment).
