Education in Health Services
Education is everywhere in our clinics. From our health care students to our clinical leadership, ongoing development and education is very important to us.
Some examples of education in our Health Services team are:
- As academic teaching units, the McMaster Family Health Team (MFHT) clinics are where the next generation of health care providers are trained and mentored. Health care students and family medicine residents gain most of their experience in our Department from hands-on, real world cases. They work directly with experienced health care providers, educators and researchers to make sure their training is world class.
- With so much training happening in our clinics, the Health Services team is also an active part of our Department’s Education team. We are always creating and testing new ways to train health care students. Our clinicians are often recognized for their innovative approach to medical education.
- Our clinics are interdisciplinary. This means we have a large team of health care providers including, but not limited to, family doctors. Each conversation is educational, as the people on our team have unique knowledge and training that can help their colleagues. You can learn more about our wide range of providers on the McMaster Family Health Team website.
Research in Health Services
An important part of providing excellent patient care is making sure health care is always advancing.
All members of our Health Services team are committed to an academic approach to family medicine. This means initiating, participating in or otherwise supporting research that will move the health care system forward.
Within Health Services, research is conducted in many different ways. Some projects invite patients to be involved, while others happen entirely out-of-sight of patients. To learn more about the range of research happening in Health Services and the wider Department of Family Medicine, please visit the Research Enterprise website.
If you are interested in collaborating with us on a research initiative, please contact the Research Administration team.
