Drs. Amie Davis and Erin Gallagher promoted to associate professor with CAWAR
Amie Davis
The Department of Family Medicine is pleased to congratulate Dr. Amie Davis on her promotion to Associate Professor with CAWAR, July 1, 2024.
Dr. Davis joined the Department of Family Medicine in 2011 on a part-time basis. Her status changed to full time in 2019 as an Assistant Professor.
At DFM, Dr. Davis has exemplified clinical excellence, spearheaded innovative clinical models, expanded educational opportunities for learners and played a pivotal role in program-wide curriculum development. She is currently the medical director of the Maternity Centre and continues her work as the inaugural postgraduate Curriculum Director in the Family Medicine residency program. She has also provided leadership as the acting Hamilton Site director in 2021-2022.
Dr. Davis actively contributes to curriculum development to improve patient care. Her unwavering commitment to high-quality clinical practice, teaching and education scholarship is evident — sharing the results of her work both locally and nationally.
We take great pride in recognizing this well-deserved achievement and are proud to have her as a part of our department.
Erin Gallagher
The Department of Family Medicine is pleased to congratulate Dr. Erin Gallagher on her promotion to Associate Professor with CAWAR as of July 1, 2024.
Dr. Gallagher joined the Department of Family Medicine in 2017 as an Assistant Professor and has made significant contributions to family medicine and palliative care in her time at DFM. She shares her clinical expertise and passion for teaching across levels of education, from undergraduate to continued professional development. Her leadership is evident through patient care, curriculum development and professional development initiatives.
Dr. Gallagher’s academic interests include public health approaches to palliative care, community engagement and capacity-building in primary care. Clinically, she excels in family medicine and palliative care. She serves as a palliative care consultant at McMaster’s Hamilton teaching sites and Hamilton Health Sciences hospitals. Additionally, she holds roles as Medical Director at Emmanuel House hospice in Hamilton and Palliative Care Clinical Co-Lead for Ontario Health West.
Dr. Gallagher has worked closely with Palliative Care Physician Mentors across Family Medicine program sites, ensuring comprehensive education. She has received the 2023 Stonechurch Family Health Centre Educator of the Year Award and the 2024 Gerry Cohen Award for excellence in clinical teaching.
We celebrate Dr. Gallagher’s well-deserved recognition and are proud to have her as part of our department.
