Assessing barriers and facilitators to lung ultrasound use among emergency physicians
This project is evaluating the feasibility of conducting an online survey assessing the barriers and facilitators to lung ultrasound (LUS) use. This survey is being distributed amongst emergency physicians at McMaster University, University of Toronto, University of Ottawa and The University of Western Ontario.
Preliminary analysis shows 57 respondents to the survey, exceeding our target of 25. As well, it appears that we have successfully reached our target audience, with 96% of respondents having access to ultrasound and 60% of these using it daily. Furthermore, 20% of respondents use LUS daily, with 40% using it weekly. We are now analyzing the responses assessing the barriers and facilitators to LUS use.
In summary, preliminary data analysis shows that we have reached our target sample. A full analysis will be conducted once data collection is completed at the end of November 2024. We look forward to learning more about the barriers and facilitators to LUS amongst ER physicians practicing in an academic setting.
