Hun-Je Park Appointed Division of Palliative Care Co-Director
The Department of Family Medicine is pleased to announce Hun-Je Park’s appointment as Co-Director of the Division of Palliative Care.
In this role, Park will work alongside division members to enhance educational offerings; foster a culture of community and inclusion; advance palliative care research; and grow the division’s membership.
“Hun-Je is an outstanding physician leader and educator,” says Cathy Risdon, chair and professor at the McMaster Department of Family Medicine. “He brings not only a deep compassion and commitment to pursuing excellence in all aspects of palliative care, but a dedication to inspiring that same passion in the next wave of palliative care clinicians.”
Park’s appointment reflects a renewed mode for the Division that features collaborative leadership between McMaster’s Department of Family Medicine and Department of Medicine. The complementary expertise of division co-directors, one from the College of Family Physicians and one from the Royal Collage of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, leverages palliative care’s interdisciplinary nature into the administration of academic programming, research initiatives and interprofessional education.
“At a time when the importance of a palliative approach to care is being better understood across our healthcare system, aligning our efforts with the Department of Medicine offers a great opportunity to maximize our impact,” says Park. “I am excited to build on our collective strengths through this role.”
Park has previously served as Interim Division Director, Associate Division Director and Undergraduate Education Lead for DoPC. He is a member of the Palliative Care Team at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington.
Division Co-Director applications are currently open for faculty members from RCSPC.
