New report available on incarceration rates in Ontario provincial correctional facilities

A new report describing incarceration rates in Ontario provincial correctional facilities between 2015 and 2022 by sex and Indigenous/racial identity is available now.
The report highlights that while incarceration rates dropped overall in the province during that timeframe, incarceration continues to disproportionately affect Black and Indigenous communities — with implications for population health.
This research was led by McMaster University, the Native Women’s Association of Canada and the University of Toronto.
